About motogadget
The passion and hobby that led to the motorcycle instrument revolution

The beginning
When the budding mechanical engineer Garrit Keller developed a speedometer for his Moto Guzzi Café Racer in 1999 because the available instruments did not even begin to meet his requirements, he could not foresee that his idea would soon change the global motorcycle scene. But the creation of the technician, for whom no challenge seems too complex, is also well received by his circle of friends. Together with two business partners, Garrit founded the motogadget label and a year later was selling handmade batteries and digital cockpit displays.

The first series instrument
It is still the hobby of nerds who produce electronics in small series within their own four walls. But success spurred on their ambitions: in 2004, the first professionally developed series instrument was created - with a unique LED panel in an extremely compact aluminum housing that was visible even in sunlight. Overnight, the motoscope mini becomes the highlight of celebrated motorcycle conversions. And so the triumphal march of the motogadget brand takes its course. Less than two years later, the founders are running motogadget full-time and working on further products.

The portfolio is growing
The small team now grows year on year and moves into larger premises in the heart of the vibrant metropolis of Berlin. Meanwhile, the portfolio expands to include analog speedometers and rev counters. All instruments now have the blessing of the Federal Motor Transport Authority and an ABE. By setting up an online store and establishing contacts with wholesalers, motogadget opens up new markets. Even in Japan and the USA, people are amazed at the remarkable German products. And the expertise in potting technology, microelectronics, bus systems and CNC production is growing rapidly.

Made in Germany
motogadget is therefore at the forefront when the custom scene changes radically in the 2000s. Driven by technological progress and cultural openness, the boundaries are shifting. By now at the latest, products "Made in Germany" are mentioned in almost every article on the leading platform Bike Exif. Indicators, speedometers, relays, switches or the mo.unit, which enables even laymen to make a slim motorcycle wiring harness, are revolutionizing the understanding of contemporary motorcycle accessories.

Favorite of the custom scene
Because motogadget does not go with the flow. They reinvent things, are more beautiful, smaller, better and of higher quality than the competition. Stylish problem solvers, plug & play, made in Germany, which enhance every vehicle. Which is why they are also used by thought leaders and the custom scene: Deus Ex Machina, Jens von Brauck, Walt Siegl, Roland Sands and Ritmo Sereno rely on motogadget.

Smaller, smarter, more digital
The mo.blaze.tens turn signal is one of the world's smallest surface-mounted turn signals and is no bigger than a 1-cent coin. The contactless mo.lock makes the vehicle key look old. And because digitalization and connectivity don't stop at the motorcycle, the mo.ride app was born seven years ago. It connects the mo.unit blue as the control center with the smartphone via Bluetooth and opens up completely new functions for every motorcycle owner.

Passion & precision
However, the effort required for these innovations is considerable. The design freedom can only be achieved with extreme vertical integration and bundled expertise within the company. motogadget, which is still independent of external investors, therefore continues to rely on Berlin as an attractive location - for creative, technology-savvy personnel. In 2016, 23 employees are already operating a highly complex, constantly growing machine park, programming robots, fitting laser markers or assembling delicate instruments in the style of traditional watchmakers, which have long since become classics. Small-series manufacturers such as Confederate and CR&S are customers, as is the chain store Louis.

Revolution in motorcycle mirrors
motogadget has stood for change since the very beginning - and remains true to this mantra. The mo.view, a completely new generation of mirrors, was launched in 2018. They are no longer made of glass, but of thin, robust aluminum, which is elaborately polished by diamonds and coated with plasma. Pure high-tech, developed in collaboration with the renowned researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute IFAM. Once again, motogadget makes the impossible possible with a world first. Countless patents and design patents secure this lead. Thanks to ISO 9001 certification, design awards and ECE approval, it is no wonder that KTM is now the first large-scale manufacturer to rely on the incredible mirrors from Berlin. motogadget is now an integral part of the motorcycle industry.

New location and expanded team
But that is no reason to rest on our laurels. In 2021, it's time to take things to the next level. The entire company, including development,
production and administration, is moving into a modern, 1,800 square meter building on the outskirts of Berlin that is ready to meet the challenges of the future
. The management of motogadget is expanded to include marketing and sales professionals. The team has now grown to 25 employees and a number of freelancers from 12 nations. Founder Garrit Keller still heads the company as managing director and visionary mastermind.
