About motogadget

Born out of a garage and passion - today synonymous with innovation, precision and quality in motorcycle construction.

01

The beginning

When the budding mechanical engineer Garrit Keller was tinkering with a speedometer for his Moto Guzzi racing bike in his garage in 1999, nobody could have guessed that the story of a revolution was about to begin. The instruments available at the time did not meet his technical requirements or his passion for precision. So, without further ado, he builds them himself - uncompromisingly, with a love of detail and an engineering spirit. The first prototypes won over friends and the scene alike. A year later, Garrit founded motogadget with two partners - and launched handmade batteries and digital cockpit displays onto the market.

02

The first series instrument

motogadget is still a project by enthusiasts who produce electronics in small series. But the big step followed in 2004: the first professionally developed series instrument, the motoscope mini. With a unique LED panel, readable even in glaring sunlight, and an extremely compact aluminum housing, it sets new standards. Within a very short time, it became a must-have in the international custom scene - and marked the beginning of motogadget's triumphal march. Less than two years later, the founders dedicate themselves full-time to their mission: innovations for motorcycles.

03

The portfolio is growing

The small team grows, moves to larger premises in the heart of Berlin and expands its range: analog speedometers, rev counters, all with approval from the Federal Motor Transport Authority and ABE. With its own online store and international sales channels, motogadget reaches markets far beyond Europe. In the USA and Japan, many dealers are astonished by the precise electronics, high-quality materials, German engineering - and an unmistakable design.

04

Made in Germany

In the middle of the 2000s, the custom scene is changing radically. New technologies and open cultures are pushing boundaries. motogadget is at the forefront: products "Made in Germany" appear in almost every article on the scene platform Bike EXIF. Indicators, speedometers, relays, switches - and the legendary mo.unit, which allows even laymen to create a slim wiring harness - revolutionize the understanding of contemporary motorcycle accessories.

05

Favorite of the custom scene

The reason for our success: motogadget does not go with the flow. Instead, we reinvent - smaller, smarter, more robust and more beautiful than the competition. Products that solve problems, simplify installation and at the same time enhance every bike. No wonder masterminds such as Deus Ex Machina, Jens von Brauck, Walt Siegl, Roland Sands and Ritmo Sereno rely on motogadget.

06

Smaller, smarter, more digital

With the mo.blaze tens, motogadget is bringing one of the world's smallest add-on indicators onto the road - barely bigger than a 1-cent coin. The contactless mo.lock makes classic ignition keys superfluous. And the mo.ride app opens the next door in 2016: smartphones are connected to the mo.unit blue via Bluetooth, which opens up completely new possibilities for motorcyclists as a digital control center.

07

Passion & precision

But every innovation requires enormous development work. Only through exceptional vertical integration and bundled expertise under one roof can motogadget maintain its freedom. Independent of investors to this day, we deliberately choose Berlin as a location for creativity, technology and passion. In 2016, the team already includes 23 specialists who program robots, operate laser markers and manufacture instruments with the precision of watchmakers. Small-series manufacturers such as Confederate and CR&S, as well as major players such as Louis, have long been among our customers.

08

Revolution in motorcycle mirrors

The next milestone follows in 2018: mo.view mirrors. Not glass, but wafer-thin, high-strength aluminum - diamond-cut, plasma-coated, developed in collaboration with the Fraunhofer IFAM. Pure high-tech, protected by patents and design protection. ISO 9001 certification, international design awards and ECE approval make the success perfect. KTM is the first high-volume manufacturer to rely on the mirrors from Berlin. motogadget is therefore not only part of the custom scene, but has long been an integral part of the international motorcycle industry.

09

New location and expanded team

Standing still is not an option. In 2021, motogadget moves into a modern 1,800 m² building on the outskirts of Berlin - with space for growth, research and production at the highest level. Marketing and sales experts strengthen the team, which now consists of 25 employees and freelancers from 12 nations. And founder Garrit Keller remains at the helm to this day - as managing director, visionary and mastermind who consistently carries on the original passion from 1999.
